How we make it

4 steps
  1. Fresh desi cow milk, set into thick curd overnight
  2. Hand-churned with a wooden bilona to separate the makhan
  3. Slow-cooked 7–8 hours in a mitti ka bartan over dry cow-dung embers
  4. No vanaspati, no flavours, no preservatives. Ever.

Why it's different

4 reasons
  • Supports digestion and gut health
  • Clean, sustained energy for the whole family
  • Nourishes skin, hair and joints (traditional use)
  • Naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E and K

Hand-churned bilona ghee from desi cow milk, slow-cooked in a mitti ka bartan over dry cow-dung embers for 7–8 hours — made the way our grandmothers made it.

Made from indigenous desi cow milk, hand-churned into makhan and slow-cooked the traditional bilona-barosi way in an earthen pot. Granular texture, nutty aroma, golden colour — the way ghee was meant to taste.

THE BAROSI PROMISE

Slow ghee, the way our grandmothers made it

No machines. No shortcuts. Just milk, time and a slow fire — and every jar made fresh, only after you order.

  1. 01

    Fresh desi cow milk

Pure desi cow milk, slowly boiled over a low flame.

  2. 02

    Set as curd overnight

The boiled milk sets into curd overnight in an earthen pot.

  3. 03

    Churned at dawn

Hand-churned with a wooden bilona to lift out white makkhan.

  4. 04

    Slowly made into ghee

The makkhan is simmered low and slow into golden ghee.

  5. 05

    Quality tested

Every fresh batch is quality-checked before it leaves.

  6. 06

    Jarred & dispatched

Hand-poured into glass and sent out — made fresh for your order.

Made fresh, only to order. We don't keep ghee sitting in storage. You place an order, we make your batch, and we deliver it — because kitchen staples should reach you fresh, not off a shelf.

Why choose Chahal Chahal Agri Farms Desi Cow Ghee?

Is Chahal cow ghee made using the bilona method?

Yes. Fresh desi cow milk is set into thick curd overnight, the curd is hand-churned in a wooden bilona to separate the makhan, and the makhan is then slow-cooked into ghee. Nothing is made directly from cream.

Why is bilona ghee grainy?

The grain (danedar texture) comes from slow rendering. Cooking the makhan gently for 7–8 hours lets the milk fat crystallise into visible granules as it cools. Ghee made quickly at high heat sets smooth instead.

Is Chahal cow ghee lab tested?

The April 2026 batch carries a nutritional composition report from Equinox Labs, an NABL-accredited laboratory — report EQNX:001:NL:26:04:01549, ULR TC682026000032602F, issued 13 April 2026. The full report is published on our Lab Reports page. FSSAI purity testing for ghee is planned for the next batch.

What is barosi cooking?

Barosi means slow-cooking over dry cow-dung embers instead of a gas flame. The heat is gentle and even, so the makhan renders down over 7–8 hours rather than minutes, which is what gives the ghee its grain and its aroma.

Where is Chahal cow ghee made?

In Singhpur Sani village, Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh, by Chahal Organics Pvt. Ltd. It is a family farm, not a contract manufacturer.

What is the difference between cow ghee and buffalo ghee?

Cow ghee is lighter, more granular and golden; buffalo ghee is denser, creamier and paler. Cow ghee is the everyday choice for roti, dal and tadka. Buffalo ghee suits mithai, halwa and festive cooking.

How should it be stored, and how long does it keep?

12 months at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Ghee does not need refrigeration — use a dry spoon and keep the jar closed.
